Recently: By the Numbers

1st Percentile: Benjamin's stats at his 5 year checkup

4.5: The age at which children should be able to dress themselves independently (according to the developmental checklist I was given)

4: The number of times Benjamin has gotten himself dressed since his checkup, since he's "not four and a half!!!"

15+: The number of police cars/motorcycles I was behind on my way to Manassas on Friday

3: The number of times the lady behind us at the play on Friday tapped my should to say she couldn't see over my kids' heads

3: The number of times I ignored her (My kids were on their knees, but no higher in their seats than I was. She never would have complained about a tall adult, so why complain about my kids?!?!)

17: The number of limbs Benjamin seems to have while sleeping in the bed with me

560: The number of miles I put on my van this weekend driving from Harrisonburg to Manassas to Radford and back to Harrisonburg

2: The number of fast food restaurants I have to stop at to make everyone happy on a road trip

4: The number of family/friends I got to visit with over the weekend

  1. Love by the numbers here and I am with you with the amount of limbs my kids seem to have if they try and sleep in the same bed as me, too! ;)

  2. You held a chicken! And it looks so peaceful. Awesome.

  3. Wow Rabia that sucks the lady complained about your kids being on their knees. You're right—she'd never complain about a tall adult (or any adult, really) but made assumptions about your kids!

  4. Chickens!! I want to hold a chicken! I really dislike when people do things like that to my kids, glad you ignored her and had fun! VIVA summer road trips!!

  5. You've been busy.

What did you say to that lady who tapped you? Knock it off? That's what I'd have said after the second time, ha.

  7. Well as I told you, Scarlet was only 5th percentile at her 5th birthday checkup. Her 6th is next week. Maybe she'll be 1st this time! I was 5th percentile at their age too.
The lady complaining about not being able to see needed to be ignored!

  8. I would ignore that lady too! Next time wear a big hat and see what she says ;)

  9. 1,000 - the number of dollars the orthodontist said it is login to take to get Emily's teeth straight. 160 - the number of children at our VBS this week. 50+ - the number of volunteers I am overseeing during VBS. 2 - the number of blog posts I wrote tonight. 2 - the number of blog posts i have not other sites this week. 1 - the number of husbands I have who will be out of town this week. :-) I like this idea!!

  11. As exhausting as it must have been, I have to say that a roadtrip with your family sounds like it would be a heck of a lot of fun :) Also what the hell with the woman sitting behind your kids?! Rude. Sounds like a great weekend! XOXO

  12. I'm actually in Harrisonburg, but close enough for a day trip to visit a dear friend. And that lady needed to chill!

  13. Ben has always been tiny, but he's growing at a steady rate, so I'm not worried. It's in their genes, after all!
    And that lady...GRRR!

  14. LOL! I just couldn't figure out why she thought it was okay to insist that the kids sit on the bottoms. The audience was all one level, there was no good way to see the stage!

  15. Ugh! The dentist has gone back and forth on orthodontics for mine, but I never had them and I turned out OK.
I hope your VBS goes great!!

  16. The road trip was fun. I'm glad we got the chance to do it. I didn't mind the driving until the last trip home. By that time I was tired.
